Silicon dioxide, also known as silica has several various applications. This mineral has very important application in life. First, it is important to recognize that it plays very great role in human growth and development. Specifically silicon dioxide is useful in development of strong bones and joints. Silica is abundantly available earth’s crust. The two most common form of silica are sand and quartz. Over the past, it has been one of the most important mineral for human primarily due to its myriad applications.
This mineral is largely used in electronics. The industry largely depends on silicon dioxide for making various electronic gadgets. First, it is sued in the manufacture of wire insulation, fibre optic cables, and semi-conductors. It has some natural properties that make it suitable of use in the electronics. Its high melting is one of the properties that make it suitable for use in making wire insulators. There are many more properties of silicon dioxide that makes it suitable of use in this industry.
Silicon dioxide is also used in piezoelectric. This mineral displays strong piezoelectric property which makes it suitable to be used in the industry. It has strong ability to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy and vice-versa. This property makes it suitable for use in both Radio and TV stations to receive and transmit signals. silicon dioxide is also used in making glasses. it is used in production of glasses that is used to make domestic items such as jars, windows, and bottles etc. it is mixed with boron oxide and soda to produce the required glass.
